3 Ways to Get the Good Links Your SEO Needs

You already know that building links is important for your SEO. But now in the post-Google Penguin age, link building is more important than ever-and a lot trickier than ever before to do correctly. What this really means is, not all links are created equal. Some are better than others, some can actually work against you and some simply aren’t worth anything at all, which can be a significant drain on SEO resources. Doing link-building the right way in the post-Penguin SEO age means doing your homework on the links that will benefit your site the most for compliance with Google and increasing traffic. Here are 3 things any link-builder needs to be considering, for SEO in the age of Pandas and Penguins:

Links that are “easy” to get (like content that you send to directory submissions that link back to your site) are okay, but these aren’t the only links you want, or even the type you should go after first. Don’t submit to directories “just because”; do it because they’re directories with good traffic and haven’t been downgraded in recent Google updates.

Another way to build good links is to submit content that links back to your site to major social bookmarking sites that are actively used. Social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit were all the rage just a couple of years ago, but there are scores to choose from now, and you don’t need them all. Find the few that have an amount of traffic that impresses you, and use those.

Another way to get good links is by commenting on blogs – when your comments actually matter. If you have something of value to say, go ahead and leave a comment. It’s great when the blog owner allows commenters to insert a hyperlink to their websites when logging in with a username. But don’t comment just for the purpose of dropping your link. Blog owners hate it, and so do your fellow commenters. Remember: Good links are what you want to have here, so submit your links via blog comments, where its relevant and helpful information to other readers.

Your SEO can be helped out so much by good links; it just takes a little know-how to make them happen. If you want more information on ways to help your SEO, feel free to browse the Crest Media blog a little further. We offer valuable tips on SEO, web design and social media.
